Weight loss is more about what foods NOT to eat rather than what foods to eat. Tell your cousin to stay away from high sugar and high fat foods such as dessert items, soda pop and other sweet drinks, chips and other snack type foods as well as heavily processed foods such as packaged meals. The closer to nature the better. Fresh fruits and veggies, whole grain cereals (not sugar sweetened) and whole grain/multi grain breads in small amounts. Lean meats such as white meat chicken without the skin, white meat turkey and fish are best. Stay away from butter, margarine, mayonaise as those contain a lot of fat. Tell her to also use portion control. Just because a food is healthy, doesn't mean you can eat unlimited amounts. Have your cuz check with her doctor about how many calories are right for her to consume in a day. Most people lose weight well if they stick to 1200 calories per day but it does vary so have your her check. Wishing her success in her endeavor.
