About squatting and . 10 points for best answer.?!

Question: About squatting and . 10 points for best answer..?
For squatting, is there a time limit to it.? Or is it that you can do it as long as you want without any harm done.? also, when I do it, my back would not be really straight and I would lean A BIT forward. Is this still the correct way to do it.? Finally, I would like also like to be sure of the correct way to get up.

As for crunches, is this the correct way to exercise your LOWER abdomen:

For squatting, just do it as long as you went. Of course, like ANY other exercise, if you do it for too long it's bad. But I think you'd have to do it for really, REALLY long, so you have nothing to worry about. :)
The straighter your back, the harder it is, the more it works your muscles. If you just lean a little bit forward it's not that bad.
I don't think there's really a "correct" way to get up...just slowly bring yourself up, I guess.?

I don't know about the video, sorry. :( But leg lifts are also really good for your lower abs:

EDIT: Hanging might help with that, but I don't think it would help much. Good posture is just habit, really. Whenever you're sitting, make a conscious effort to sit up straight and eventually it should become something you do automatically. :)

This is also a good exercise for your back:

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Here is the real answer. There is no time limit because if you are doing them right then your legs should start feeling the burn after a 4-6 sets of 8-10 reps. You do need a straight back when doing squats otherwise you will be leaning forward too much and your lower back cant handle it. The rule of thumb is to have your eyes looking up at the corner where the top of the ceiling meets the side wall. This ensures that your back is straight because with your neck slightly tilted back it aligns the spine causing your back to straighten out. There are numerous ways to get up. If you are trying to get more strength and explosiveness then you want to get up quick almost as if you are trying to jump and get your feet off the ground. You can also get up smooth and steady which burns your legs more and increases mass in your legs. Hanging is good for lower abs and it is good to stretch out back and chest, but not good enough to keep your back straight. To get good posture take a deep breath and when your lungs are full of air then you will notice how much straighter you are standing. That is the posture you want.Health Question & Answer

If by time limit you mean how long (weeks/months) you can keep it in your routine - then no, there is no limit. Your body will adapt to a general routine in 6-8 weeks so you need to change things up a little. But a change can be as simple as going from 3 sets of 8 to 4 sets of 10. It doesn't need to be drastic.

If by time you mean the rep cadence then, again, no. I've done very long squats with 30 seconds of tension time per rep. Its quite a burn and not something you want to jump into.

Leaning forward can be dangerous and you can easily injure your lower back when you start adding pounding. A good lower back exercise is the reverse hyper extension. Just make sure your form is spot on for any lower back work. A more advanced lower body exercise is the good morning. These will both increase you back muscle (erector spinae) which will help with posture and keep you injury free on squats.Health Question & Answer

No time limits for squats. Simply do as many reps and sets with the amount of weight that your body can handle. The proper way to do squats is to stand w/ your feet about shoulder-width apart, have the bar rest across your shoulders behind your neck, bend your knees and lower yourself until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Immediately return to the upright position, but your butt should never come up first. Breathe in when you go down, and exhale when you go back up. Do about 12-20 reps and anywhere from 2 to 4 sets.

Remember to go down until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Otherwise, if you don't go all the way down you'll be doing what is known as a "half-squat" and will lose much benefit from the exercise.Health Question & Answer

I NEVER squat with weights! People have died from doing that! I just use my own body weight, so then your not putting too much strain on your body. One thing to keep in mind, you want to be able to workout for life; not just hardcore for a few years. So there is no need to go crazy with your workouts and blow yourself out. Then you will end up a 50 year old man, who can't walk, sit, or stand for very long without being in pain.

And yeah that workout in the video is good. It's all up to you. Whatever makes you feel good and doesn't hurt your body. I personally set my heavy punching bag on the floor, and bridge my body over it, with my back on the bag, legs bent with my knees in the air. Then I lower my head to the ground, then come back up. But I change my workouts around all of the time to keep them fresh. I teach boxing, so my workouts tend to deal with those areas of the body needed for combat sports.

Keep in mind, you can do little ab workouts in bed. Just contract your abs, release, contact, release. You can also set a small weight or bar on top of your abs when your lying down on a weight bench, and just use your abs to life the weight. There is just so many muscles in your abs, that there isn't really a perfect way of working them all out at the same time. Except I guess for kicking a bag. Side and front kicks will build you some bad *** abs over time!Health Question & Answer
