Do crunches work all the abdominal muscles?!


Question: Do crunches work all the abdominal muscles.?
i prefer to do crunches over sit ups and i'm wondering if they work the lower abdominal muscles.? i've been feeling changes to mainly the abdominal muscles under my chest.. will my lower abdominal muscles change with time or should i try another specific exercise.?Health Question & Answer

To answer the title: No, it just works mainly the rectus abdominis muscle (aka the six pack). But, mostly the ones closest to the chest.

To me, I prefer doing combinations of ab workout because you get to work out more muscles while you give other muscles time to rest. For example, if you just keep doing crunches, you only working out one part and you WILL get tired. But if you do a combination of crunches, side sit-ups, and leg lifts, you exercise all of them, and give other muscles time ti recover before going on another rep.

here's a good work out for you lower abs. it's pretty basic.

Lie on your back and arms on your side to help you balance. Lift both legs to the air straight so you are forming a 90 degree angle from the floor, then slowly go back to lying position. Repeat as much as you want ::DHealth Question & Answer

You can do crunches i like them better than sit ups too! But you need to do different types of crunches to work different parts of the abs.

I always add leg lifts to my ab workout for the lower abs! Laying on the floor put your hands under your butt and lift both legs in the air at the same time with your ankles together. You'll feel it in the lower abs right away! Do as many reps as you can. Eventually your lower abs will be strong enough to do this without your hands under your butt.
