Question: Eating 5x a day but still not gaining weight.?
since i was little, every teased me. im too skinny and im like a walking stick,etc. but i eat so much. even 5 meals in a day. twice during the day, junk foods especially chocolates and chips.and for the 3 times, rice and meat. i can eat in mcdonalds everyday if i want to, and i just love buffets. and i don't go training, ever! i always sleep and i dont undergo so much stress because i dont do anything. so im curious why am i not gaining weight.? im so afraid that one day i will just balloon or have health problems because of everything that im doing now. i hope you could help me.Health Question & Answer

ok.. if you're trying to gain weight.. it doesn't mean you should be eating fast foods and junk foods so much. although you may gain some weight from those.. you can get all sorts of health problems such as heart disease and diabetes.. and that's what you don't want. you need to eat a variety of foods.. you know.. the pyramid.. and lots of it. but you may not be gaining weight because you just have a higher metabolism than most people.

You should probably go to the doc for some bloodwork. I have the same problem - cannot gain weight. I'm at 96 lbs and holding. My doc mentioned doing some blood work to check my thryroid for hyperthyroidism. Or, you could have a calorie absorption issue, or even a metabolic make up issue - any of these things are possible, but no diet change is going to fix them. its good to eat a lot to gain weight but if you don't work out you wont gain anything. as well, if you are asking this question you are probably young enough to have a good metabolism, good enough to eat a lot and not gain weight. yes if you don't exercise you will eventually 'balloon'Health Question & Answer

Does your Mum or Dad Know.......If not then tell them and they can contact your doctor or if you dont want to tell them arrange privately to go to the doctor.

And probably stuffing your face isnt the best way to gain weight that willl just make you come out in spots and things and THAT itself can give you some sort of health problem i think anyway.?.?.?

My brothers boyfriend has an overactive thyroid and he has to eat tons of calories every day just to maintain his weight.

Your body obviously burns fat faster then an average person. This is a good thing for you because you dont have to be cautious of weight, but you do have to worry about cholesterol and other things that might result in your high fat diet. Health Question & Answer

Some people are just meant to be skinny. Don't over do on the junk food. You could raise your cholesterol and sugar. You could end up diabetes. Try drinking protein shakes, maybe they will help. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

If you're healthy don't let it worry you. The whole world is full of people of different sizes. You just happen to be a beautifully slim one. I'm the exact opposite! But I have found that eating regularly is better for me that trying to slim by eating just one meal!

I caught sight of one of the answers mentioning that if you're eating a ton of high fat, high cholesterol foods, you should get your cholesterol levels checked. I hadn't thought of that, but he's quite right. Just because you're lovely and thin doesn't mean to say that you're not damaging your body by what you're eating.

First of all, you probably have a very, very high metabolism. Which is like a blessing from God, considering when all those kids who teased you are fat at age fifty you'll be perfectly thin, and you'll be able to eat whatever you want--did you ever consider the modeling business.? It doesn't matter what they say.

Anyway, it isn't so much how often you eat, it's more how MUCH you eat. You could have five meals a day, but not eat a whole lot at those meals. I suggest you stick with three huge meals (stake, potatoes, bread, veggies, and all the other heavy, heavy foods) a day and a lot of snacks in between. Make sure you track carbs and fat content, and keep yourself on a daily amount just a tad bit higher than normal.
Good meal entrees:
-Steak
-Lasagna and heavily sauced pastas
-Fried chicken
-Hamburgers
-Dishes that have lots of bread products and/or fatty meats, like bacon

The sides can be anything with lots of carbs, like bread or potatoes.
Desserts just can't be sugar free.
Snacks are better when fried.
