Question: Does skateboarding count as cardio, if so will it shrink my msucles.?
ive been workin out for a few months now because i was realy skiiny and wanted to look better and i noticed tht some days i look alot beter than others and usualy i dnt look as gd on days wen ive been skateboarding all/most of the day, usualy weekends when i dont do weights. i read tht to much cardio for an ectomorph (i think its tht one) is bad and will shrink the muscle, wud u count skatin as cardio and is tht y i look better if i dnt skate for a while or cud it be something else.?Health Question & Answer

Odds are that the reason you don't look so good after spending hours outside skating is that you are a bit dehydrated. Muscles are mostly made of water and when you get dehydrated your body will pull water from them making them look smaller.

Skating is only cardio if you are sweating while doing it.

The way that cardio makes you lose muscle is when you are doing hard cardio and burning more calories than you have available in your system. All you need is a decent intake of protein throughout the day will help you keep all that muscle. If you have lots of protein then you won't lose any muscle.

Keep a power bar or something with you. Have one ever 2-3 hrs.

It can be cardio if you take long strides and are off the board more than riding ON the board.

And No, it won't shrink muscles, it will elonggate them and your tendon strength...all of this is assuming you don't do an endo, lol.
