Went off diet today help! consumed 2000 calories ?!

Question: Went off diet today help! consumed 2000 calories .?
2000 might not seem huge but i have been eating 1300 for about 2 months and lost 14 lbs. Today I went to a family party and ate EVERYTHING in sight... I did some calculating and ate about 2000 calories from morning till night. One day of eating bad won't ruin my diet right.? Should I work out to make up for it.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
So, you ate a *normal* amount of food for a healthy, functioning human being.

Why freak out about it.? :)

If you fixate on the exact amounts and 'punish' yourself for the tiniest deviation, you'll be at risk for eating disorders.

Relax, you'll live longer if you don't stress out.Health Question & Answer

It pretty much takes a habbit to lose or gain weight. One day doesn't do a whole lot. Think of it this way, did one day of eating 1300 make you lose alot.? No. So one day of eating 2000 won't make you gain alot either. Just get back on track tomorrow. No biggie.

Actually, I've read that it is good to splurge a little once a week to keep your metabolism from getting complacent. When you eat low-cal everyday, your metabolism begins to slow down and this is the cause of plateaus that most people hit at some point. Their metabolism's slow so they don't burn as many calories anymore. But by splurging one a week or so, you can jump start your metabolism. Health Question & Answer

It's good that you acknowldge that you didn't stick to the diet. Often sticking to a strict diet can be difficult, and I don't think it harmed your metabolism too much. You don't need to worry about it at all, but ensure it does not happen again. You are human, and everyone makes mistakes. Often eating that amount is unavoidable. But, what you need to realise is your discipline. When you are faced with a fatty food or McDonalds, you need to remember your goal and the sense of achievement once you reach your goal
Good Luck :)Health Question & Answer

You can get away with that. Your body is still going to be in weight loss mode. Besides, you may have needed the boost. You should have one day every other week or so in which you eat a normal amount, (Normal, not pigin' out like I love to do). You will be fine. Besides, 2,000 calories won't make you gain weight. Just one day. Health Question & Answer
