Don't "diet", per se. Change a few things. Drink at least 88 ozs. of water per day. Take the stairs instead of elevator. Park a little farther in parking lot so you get a little more walking time in. Portion control, portion control, portion control! This is a big one. Balanced diet. Cut out sodas. Walk 3 times/week. ... and give it some time. Losing that much weight will take a while. I am doing the same and this always works. Diets never have.Health Question & Answer

I lost 45 pounds 3 years ago by following the Physicians Weight Loss program, which had me watch my portions and eat 2 - 4 protein supplements per day. The main things that made this work for me were:

1. I paid for it, and I hate to waste money!
2. Going in once a week (or more often if I wanted) kept me "honest." I felt accountable not only to myself, but the people at the center.
3. Weigh-ins and counseling are one-on-one. I get to actually talk to someone!

I still go there because it helps me maintain my weight. When I start to gain a bit, I know I have help and support there.

The Physicians Weight Loss foods and portion are very similar to the Weight Watcher's program of 20-some years ago. That one actually worked for me after I had my baby. Now Weight Watchers' point system is too easy to play games with and I don't care for the large group meetings. They seem to be all about selling their products and making you pay, pay, pay.

For me, the personal touch made all the difference. Physicians Weight Loss Centers are in Ohio and Florida--I'm not sure where else. I'm sure there are similar programs out there. Maybe something like that will work for you.Health Question & Answer

Just over two and a half years ago I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. This is how I did it.

I kept all junk foods, ready made meals you buy in the supermarket, alcohol, sugary fizzy drinks, and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum. These are high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat. The two main ingredients which are responsible for that extra weight gain. Junk food is just what it says - JUNK. With one added ingredient in - FAT.

I ate and still do a balanced, low fat diet of:- lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, low fat dairy products, skimmed milk, sugar free beverages, and non sugary cereals.

I also included more wholefoods into my diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans & pulses. These are high in fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Try to MOVE as MUCH as YOU CAN. EXERCISE will really help to acelerate your weight loss. Exercise is one of the strongest indicators of long term success. Not only does it burn calories and increases metabolism - boosting muscle.

Exercise is beneficial regardless of your diet. However, 80% of your physique is a result of what you eat. 20% is exercise.

But one thing you have to remember is. Once you have reached your realistic target weight. If you go back to your old eating habits and activity levels. You WILL put the weight back on. It is as simple as that. This is such a big problem with dieting. As many people don't commit to make changes that they can maintain in the long term.

You have a life to live and enjoy. So hang on to the satisfaction of being at a comfortable, healthy weight you can sustain.

Start drinking lots of water!
Don't drink cokes for about a month, and you will see a little difference. Sodas and candies are so unhealthy for you, even though we all have a guilty pleasure of eating them sometimes. Eat three healthy meals a day with healthy snacks in between, like yogurt or apples and jelly.
It's OK to have sweets every now and then, just don't OVER do it.
For exercising, try to do SOMETHING for at least an hour a day. Running helps a lot.
I do a lot of sit ups and crunches, and they help some too.
also, if you start to loose weight, DO NOT reward yourself with food.

Weight Watchers online is awesome. It is helping me realize the affects of what I eat. I have done other diets, but they restrict the kind of food you should eat. Sometimes the "good" foods aren't available. Weight Watchers lets me eat what there is and have a wide variety of nutritious and favorite foods and is teaching me moderation. I have lost 11 pounds so far...and I'm on track to make a similar goal to yours within a few months. Health Question & Answer

here is what my dietician suggests . follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50 per cent veg, 25 per cent carb.remember potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category, 25 per cent protein.this will prevent cravings too.have a protein shake if you like too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit ideally berries, or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is permanent loss. pick an exercise regime you like.
