Am I anorexic? Im not overweight or underweight but pertrified of weight?!

Question: Am I anorexic.? Im not overweight or underweight but pertrified of weight.?
I am 23 years old, and I weigh 48kgs and am about 160cm tall I know this isn't terribly dangerously underweight but I am only this weight now because I have spent the last couple of months eating a lot of fatty foods.
I was a normal size as a child but when I hit my teens i got terrified of getting fat. (Mum always spoke really badly of over weight people- dont feel comfortable repeating her)
I knew I wasn't fat but got worried and so lost a lot of weight. Between the ages of 14 and 20 I never weighed more than 45kgs.
When I was 20 I fell pregnant and was very very careful about gaining extra weight (stupid move, i know now) luckily my daughter was healthy though quite small and I woke up at 45kgs on her 3rd day.
Like I said, I have never been over weight and have never thought I was.
So my problem is this: I am worried about being under weight, and over weight. From previous experience I will likely gain the weight I want, then freak out and lose it all cause ill be scared it wont stop coming... My fear of gaining weight is enough to stop me eating all together.
So I've probably confused everyone but anyway... am i just a stresser or is this anorexia disguising itself.? Do I have a problem.?

Answers:
Typically anorexia nervose patients look in the mirror and see a fat person regardless of how skinny they actually are. They are so determined to lose weight that they eat like a sparrow and exercise like an olympian. Their mindset is that they are indeed obese and they are obsessed with losing weight.

Anorexia is the absence of appetite. Bulimics binge on food, feel guilty and so vomit it up.

You do have a disorder. I cant give it a name. It wont be an easy fix. It will involve some form of counselling to identify the cause of your problems. It will be worth your efforts in tackling it, the peace of mind you will get in the end will fan out into the lives of those closest to you.

If your child is raised watching you with an eating disorder you can almost guarantee she will have one too. And what you are doing now will make her doubt her own appearance.

Make yourself a date to start this process and stick with it. Begin with a trip to your doctor who can then organise referrals.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Yes, you have a serious problem and it could damage your health. You have an obsession with your weight which may have already done harm to your "healthy" daughter (small birthweight babies are more susceptible to contagious diseases and also to developing learning disabilities. You need to seek professional help to find out how your phobias developed and how to cure them before you become an even greater danger to yourself and others.Health Question & Answer
