What is the best way to cut weight for high school wrestling?!


Question: What is the best way to cut weight for high school wrestling.?
Its about a month until season i weigh 147 and want to wrestle 140 maybe 135. I have never cut weight before. I am 5'10'' and have a body fat % around 7%. I want to know how i can cut before wrestling season while at least maintaining my current strength level, if not getting strongerHealth Question & Answer

Excess weight cutting hurts the great sport of wrestling.

I wrestled and my son was a high school state champ and now wrestles in college. I've seen effects of excessive weight cutting and strongly caution against it.

In the state I live in high school students are not eligible to wrestle weight classes where their bodyfat is below 7%. That is where you are now.

My son never cut more than a few lbs in any year in high school. In his senior year, he was in-between two weight classes and wrestled up and won big.

You need to leave room for your body to grow. You should be thinking of wrestling at 145. Can't you beat the guy at that weight.?

well if you are all muscle right now i would stay at the current weight
in a month you cant cut 10 and have strength especially with no body fat. in high school i was a wrestler and they guys who cut weight and had no fat got weak. but a lean protein diet is good after weight ins in the morning of a meet eat tons of carbs. i cant say what i did because i am girl but i know what it takes good luckHealth Question & Answer
