It depends on what kind of diet you are on and how you will use raisin bran in your diet.

It isn't too bad for you--it's better than most cold cereals. It's fairly low in sugar and fat and most of its carbs are complex carbs. The sugar is mostly in the raisins, so bran flakes without raisins are another option. It can definitely be on the menu even if you are dieting.

On the other hand, raisin bran is not a blank (like lettuce) where you can eat all you want and still lose weight. It has carbs and you need to watch how many calories you are getting from them. I don't recommend no-carb diets, but if you are on one, raisin bran is on the bad list--don't eat it if you are doing atkins or one of the ineffective immitations of it. You will need to show some moderation. also remember the fat in your milk--switching to skim will also help.Health Question & Answer

Not really-it has a lot of SUGAR. And carbs. low-fat. Bad combination to lose weight. Personally-I like Hi-Lo cereal. Its low-GLYCEMIC, low sugar, HIGH fiber and protein. Health Question & Answer

i wouldn't say it's the best but it's a heck of a lot better than cocoa puffs or froot loops....
