There are different versions of the leg and hip raises. Most basic are those where you just lie on your back and start to lift your legs up and back down, without your heels touching the ground. You also can try to get your knees to touch your chest as an alternative. These are the best leg raise exercises for those who are just starting out exercising. Very easy and simple exercises, but after a while when your abs are getting better, too easy.

For those who seek harder ab exercises, there are different hanging leg raises and parallel bar knee-hip or straight leg - hip raises. These require at least a high bar for execution or parallel bars. The knee raise version is usually slightly easier than the straight leg version. Your motion should be controlled when executing these and the straight leg version is the one to aim when seeking the key for lean stomach.

these guys are right. I know its difficult trust me! Its more difficult than crunches sometimes, its a GREAT exercise for the abs, just keep pushing yourself. Set a number of how many your gonna do and for how many sets, after you reach that with success, increase it.Health Question & Answer

Raising only one leg takes the tension off the abdomen muscles. When both legs are used, your ab muscles are their most contracted. I would recommed doing two legs. It hurts for a reason. That means it works. If its the discomfort your talking about, you will get used to it.Health Question & Answer
