buy a road bike(and helmet, and shorts) and join a local bike club. You'll have no shortage of gentleman in your club to ride with. Once you build up your endurance you'll be riding 2-3 hour rides multiple days per week (and if you're trying to lose weight it's great.. you'll burn 500-1000 calories per hour cycling at a good clip).
