to lose a pound a week you have to cut 500 calories a day from your food intake, increase your caloric output by 500 calories a day, or a combination of both. Since June 1 is a little under 8 months away, you would have to cut out/use up closer to 800 calories a day.

this is not an unreachable goal. cutting just 8 oz of regular soda a day saves over 100 calories. if you drink a 20 oz cola daily, and you switch to water instead, just for that 1 cola, you save about 250 calories. bring your lunch instead of going thru a drive thru and you will save lots more.

also, keep yourself well hydrated with water (i cheat and add those on the go green tea packets to mine, but it still seems to work). a good rule of thumb is to drink 1 oz of water for every 2 pounds you weigh.

there is no miracle food or diet that works. this has to be a lifestyle change. eating only one food, or cutting out an entire category has 2 problems: 1 - you could get sick, 2 - you WILL get bored. Health Question & Answer

You have time. Set easy targets to start with and gradually make them harder. Aim to eat 1,800 calories a day and eat your meals slowly. also aim to do around 30 mins of exercise a day, like dog walking, jogging, jumping jacks ect.
