Question: Trying to lose 25 lbs...pls help...?
Ok so I am trying to lose 25-30 lbs before May 09 b/c we are going on vacation. So far I have lost 10 lbs by dieting alone so now to lose the 25 lbs I am going to start exercise but I know that you should do both cardio and weight training but if I do ONLY cardio for 45 mins 4-5 days per week will I have saggy skin.? I just want to lose the fat and then tone up...or should I just do both.? ?Health Question & Answer

The best thing to do to make sure your exercise routine is successful is to figure out something you can stick with (whether it's cardio or weight lifting). If you don't enjoy it, you won't stick with it and you won't lose weight.

Try switching up your workouts with cardio, weight training, and a physical activity that you enjoy doing. Mix in some yoga or take a spin class.

If you join your local YMCA, they have a ton of classes you can choose from and you'll have access to the weights and cardio machines. It always helps me to have variety in my workout choices.Health Question & Answer

Well I have to agree with Wade's answer.

I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. That was two and a half years ago. I have since then been able to maintain my weight with ease.

This is how I did it.

I ate a healthy balanced, low fat diet and took up running. Two things I had never done before. The results were absolutely amazing.

Obviously I had to start off very slowly with my running. But as the time went on on I was able to run for longer. I now run on a regular basis and I too will be participating in my first marathon after the new year.

Running is a really effective way to lose weight. A 150lb person will burn approximately around 100 calories per mile when running. As it is a cardiovascular exercise it will help to tone your entire body up by burning off those excess calories.

Believe me, I am not meaning to brag in anyway. But I have never had such a lean, toned body. As running is the only exercise I do. I have to put it down to this.

Good luck.

You will not have saggy skin if you do BENEFICIAL cardio. Elliptical's won't cut it. Get out and run, but start easy...a mile a day for the first couple weeks, then bump it to two or three. If you keep ambitious about running you will see the pounds fall off.

also, make sure you are eating healthy. If you start running you should probably bump up your protein and electrolyte intakes. I always eat a bowl of fruit after a run.

Running followed by a good swim has always done me well! I am a triathlete and am currently training for my first marathon! if you need anymore help check out
