Answers:
Yes some burning or soreness the day after, not really pain, is normal. When you are working out you want to do it until failure, meaning until it really burns and your body absolutely can't do another repetition. You shouldn't work your abs every day because they won't have time to heal. Do it every 2-4 days depending on how hard you work out to give your muscles time to repair themselves and build mass. Don't forget to eat / drink enough protein.Health Question & Answer

Stiff and tense muscles mean you're working hard. If they're painful (tugging, not sore), you might be overworking them, while if they're too sore, you may not be warming up or cooling down enough.

The soreness will ease off as your muscles get stronger, at which time you can add more reps if you want. also, try stretching out your abs (lie face-down and then push yourself up while keeping your lower body down, so your back arches backwards and you feel a stretch), or even icing them immediately afterwards. If you wait longer, alternately put hot and cold on them, and arnica works well, too. If you plan to work out again the next day, you can use a topical analgesic like Deep Cold then, but keep in mind that you'll smell of it until your next shower. Health Question & Answer
