Answers:
As long as you have a balance between cardio and weights you won't go buff.

I do weights quite a bit and only weigh 10 stone, weight training with free weights or resistance weights will improve your strength (noticeable in about 2 weeks) and any exercise will help tone muscles. I do lots of cardio vascular exercise and that stops me gaining weight. It also gives me a very low body fat percentage so my muscles look toned. I eat about 3000 cals a day as you work up a mega appetite. I probably do four or five hours cardio for every hour of weights.

The buff guys at my local gym are never seen on cross trainers or running machines they just stick purely to weights and weight gain powders, the toned guys do everything without weight powders.

Just look at footballers, mainly cardio for footy and most look really toned.

Hope this helps, I have never heard of the disco biceps.

Keep your routine varied and you'll be fine.

You don't tend to notice becoming toned apart from maybe your abs. Your friends and family just come out with comments now and again.Health Question & Answer

If you want to be toned, then using lighter weights for a greater number of sets (usually done in sets of 10-20). If you want to build bulk, then you want to lift heavier weights for less sets (not more than 10 reps per set).

How much weight you lift in either case really depends on your current fitness level. Be careful not to go overboard...it'll mess up your training schedule and potentially your body.Health Question & Answer

The above person has given a good answer so i will try to help with the disco muscle question.
I guess it may be called that as the big biceps are not very functional for sporting use, and therefore only good for pulling at the discoHealth Question & Answer
