Initial consultations at gyms?!

Question: Initial consultations at gyms.?
I'm going to a gym tonight after work to check it out, get pricing information, etc. When I made the appointment on the phone, they said that they do a fitness assessment and body fat evaluation, etc. I kind of just said, "yeah, okay" out of shock. I'm really not the kind of person that likes to pay a lot of attention to my body fat percentage and my heart rate and all that. Basically, if I feel healthy, I don't worry, unless my pants become snug. Not to mention I just kind of want to go, check out the place, sign up of I like it, and leave. I don't want to be there that long.

How many of you had to go through that at the initial gym consultation.? Can you just "Thanks, but no thanks" and decline, or do they get pushy about it.? The gym I'm checking out tonight is a Women's Workout World in Chicago.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes you can deny that stuff. and the test they use to determine your body fat % is very inaccurate anyway.

With that being said, body fat % is very important to ones health. If we all went by "what we feel", then we'd never catch diseases before they get out of hand. about them doctors, has any one taken a look at their physiques lately.? not necessarily the most healthy looking individuals are they.? Most general practitioners are very archaic with their nutrition/training knowledge and the stuff they do spout out, is from a textbook 20-30 years ago.

and without knowing about heart rate, you will never be efficient with your fat loss (if that is why, in fact, you are signing up for a gym)

anyhow, yes you can deny it. its your time!Health Question & Answer

you might think you are healthy... but you must not be. only the fitness counselor at the gym can measure your body fat correctly. you will be surprised to find out what categories you been placed in after they measure you. you can still be eating right and think that you are healthy but you might be in obese category.
