How can I Avoid bulking up my muscles on a tight weight training regim? Help?!


Question: How can I Avoid bulking up my muscles on a tight weight training regim.? Help.?
I am a competative swimmer and I am on a scholarship.. the only problem with that is that they 'own' me basically so I am required to do a lot of training which includes weight training with an Ex-Drill Sargent from the Marines..

I am afraid as this goes on (its starting already) that I will start to look too masculine...What are some techniques / nutrition that will help keep my muscles lean and tight and not bulking up at all.? especially my back.

Help!!... I don't want to be bound to having this bulk for the next three years :(.

Odds are that you won't get bulk. Women simply don't have the testosterone levels for it. On the very off chance that you do - and it does happen - then you have some options.


Keep the rep range higher. Stay above 12 reps. This will keep you more in the endurance realm and out of hypertrophy.

Keep your protein intake a bit low. Less than 1gram/lb. Since you need aminos for repair and satellite cell construction, lacking aminos will hamper growth.

Go into diet mode. Dropping calories below maintenance once a week will stall out muscle growth.

But, again, odds are that you won't get bulky. Very very few women have the body type that allows them to put that much muscle mass on. Your diet would have to be spot on, your sleep cycles always good and your workouts would have to be heavy and hard at all times. Health Question & Answer

Woman bodybuilders who look "masculine" don't get that way from lifting weights alone. Women don't produce enough of the male hormone, testosterone, to accomplish big bulky muscles like men.

Its the injection of steroids that give these woman bodybuilders those features.

Remember, when we cut down in bodyfat, our existing muscle is now exposed, giving the illusion of being larger than they really are!
