I personally own an elliptical (cross) trainer and i find it a great all over body workout. If you own a bike, cycle everywhere, this is a great bum and thigh exercise. I find these two less hammering than the treadmill, as they require less pressure on your feet.

I recommend
breakfast: Weetabix + Semi Skimmed Milk OR
Natural Yoghurt with fruit

lunch: seeded brown bagel with low fat cream cheese OR
vegetable soup with brown bread

dinner: some form of meat with vegetables
or brown pasta with a tomato sauce.

hope this helps :)

i COULD confuse people when it comes to what you should eat to lose weight, but i like to keep it simple:

follow the food pyramid and eat the least recommended servings per food group

this usually means to eat from small saucers in stead of regular size plates

do cardio 3-4 times a week but don't do the same thing everyday:

ex: treadmill one day, an aerobics class the next, a workout/dance video the day after and a mini trampoline on the last day

do a total body weight training workout at least 2x a week: (the following examples work all major muscle groups)

work upper/mid back, biceps, rear deltoids (shoulders) with a "pull" exercise (such as a seated row)

work chest, triceps and front deltoids (shoulders) with a "push" exercise (such as bench presses)

work deltiods (shoulders), very upper chest and very upper back (doing exercise such as "shrugs", side "raises" or shoulder "presses")

work core (low back, obliques, and abs) - and there are sooooo many of exercises for your core that i don't even know where to start!

work legs by doing squats, lunges or a leg press machine

doing 2-3 sets of any chosen exercise per major muscle group is ideal

doing 12-20 reps, or even all the way up to 30-50 reps during each set is what you want to aim for..... at challenging weight (a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most challenging)

keep a log, and you want to go up in either sets, reps (no more than 5 reps at a time) or weight (no more than 5 pounds at a time) each session

hope this was helpful

good luck to you!!!!!!!
Health Question & Answer

I lost 90 pounds in less than a year using a reduced calorie/reduced carb diet. It sounds yucky but as diets go, it's actually pretty manageable. :)

Here's an example menu: two scrambled eggs for breakfast, a piece of fruit for a midmorning snack, some cottage cheese and a small salad (no croutons, under 2 T. dressing) for lunch, a piece of string cheese for a midafternoon snack, a grilled chicken breast and broccoli for supper.

Drink lots of water - at least 72 ounces a day - and don't snack after dinner. When in doubt, check the carb content on your food; aim for 30 g or less of carbohydrates per day, total.

For exercise, I try to work out for 30 to 40 minutes at least three times a week - but with this diet, you'll burn fat without having to exercise much as long as you don't go over your carb limit.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7
p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your
initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't
eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you
don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is
still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or
to buy special meals or plans.
Health Question & Answer

you dont need to starve or deprive yourself.
for a workable diet
here is what my dietician suggests . follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50 per cent veg, 25 per cent carb.remember potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category, 25 per cent protein.this will prevent cravings too.have a protein shake if you like too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit ideally berries, or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is permanent loss. pick an exercise regime you like.
get a pedometer and try to take 10,000 steps everyday. Health Question & Answer
