How do you eat with the Lap-Band?!

Question: How do you eat with the Lap-Band.?
With the Lap-Band, can you only eat soft foods, such as applesauce and shakes for the rest of your life.? Or how does that work...?

also, what are PB (productive burps) like, and can they be avoided.?

Thank you for your responses.Health Question & Answer

The first three weeks after lap band is what you eat after the surgery. After that you can try different types of food. I can eat anything except bread and rice and some pastas but like I have said before everyone is different. You have to get 50-60 grams a protein in a day and at least 64 ounces of fluid a day, plus you need fiber and net carbs. You will get a diet telling you all you have to do. Plus everyday, you have to exercise. The PB's can be cause my eating to fast or being full and not stopping. I have never vomited or been sick. I tried to eat bread and it hurt me so bad that I learned, bread is not that important to me, any more. I loved rice but it does me the same way (white or brown) so, I don't eat that by choice. You will train yourself, which you would rather have a snack that is not good for you or something you can fill up on, that is good for you. My surgeon told me that everyone cheats and he told me how to do it and not ruin my whole day and I do every once in a while but not very often. The band is just a tool and what you do with your tool is up to you. You will understand when you get it.Health Question & Answer

After lap band surgery, you may be ecstatic over the results. Now all you have to do is eat correctly to continue the success yourself. It will be difficult to some extent, because you need to change a lifetime of eating habits. All you have to do is follow the diet information that goes along with the procedure instructions. Mainly, you need to get plenty of protein every day (about 45 grams), eat slowly (do not gulp) and drink plenty of fluids between meals.
