Hello, I am on a diet for 7 months now and have a strict budget so...
there's plenty of cheap healthy alternatives:
eggs ( I eat 2 a week, eg. cooked in tomato passata and onions)
ricotta cheese (very versatile)
turkey mince (try turkey burgers cooked in soy sauce..yum!)
fish fingers ( I eat 5 and oven made not fried, they're allowed)
vegetables:
carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, parsnips, tomatoes
but also soups made with lentils or chickpeas or beans are great.
You can add eg. 30 gr pasta in a lentil soup made with lentils, garlic, olive oil ( two tps) and chili.
I grow my own herbs ( basil, parsley, thyme, mint) no need much space just some pots on the window
I use rice for lunch with vegetables (eg. courgette risotto) and proteins+ vegtables for dinner. I also plan my diet weekly trying to alternate proteins.
I buy large packs of wholemeal pasta and rice and when I want some sweet treat (deserved onese) I like baking them or making yogurt and fruit treats. I use fruit sugar to sweeten and I know what the things I bake exactly contain!
Hope this is helpful!

Start your own garden. I know right now is way out of season, but last summer we bought tomato plants for cheap that fed us for the entire summer. Look into that for next year. For protein, hummus is cheap for the most part.Health Question & Answer
Fresh produce or canned goods is the only way to go when you want cheap. Or frozen... so it lasts longer. Stay away from anything organic as they tend to be more pricey.Health Question & Answer
