i hate the way i look and i have a dance recital in three weeks and i want to lose 15 pound would it help or hurt mrHealth Question & Answer

Hey!

It actually depends on what your current weight is. If you are normal weight, and you lose 15 pounds, it may help a bit. But if you are already under-weight, then you may not want to lose anymore. You should actually look at a picture on google or yahoo, and see what an anorexic person looks like. And then yeah, it will hurt you! But you should start working out and drink juice.Health Question & Answer

First of all, you cannot CHOOSE to be anorexic. It is a very serious disease, not a choice.

Second, of course being anorexic hurts you. I just spent 5 weeks in a hospital for eating disorders, and let me tell you, it is not fun. You wouldnt imagine the things i saw there. There were several women, all in their 20's, confined to a wheelchair, feeding tubes up their noses, connected to IVs, so thin they looked like they were about to break. It's such a shame to see these women. They should be in the prime of their lives, but instead, their disorder has them in such a miserable state. I am still fighting to recover, but i feel so lucky that i havent gotten to that stage yet, but it scares me because i know that could very well be me in a few years if i keep it up.

So if your ideal future has you confined to a wheelchair fighting for every breathe, then sure, anorexia wont hurt you. But i recommend just being happy with who you are. Ask anybody, and the most beautiful women are those who are at a healthy weight, not the sickly thin women

Take careHealth Question & Answer

First off, I wish people would get rid of this mindset that there's such a thing as "going" anorexic. Anorexia is a horrible disease, and they have treatment centers for it for a reason. It can wreck your systems, mess with your head, and kill you eventually. Don't even experiment with starvation unless you want to take an unplanned stage dive during your recital. Practice dancing extra hard for more time each day to perfect your routine while burning calories, put off eating that Halloween candy for a few weeks, save that huge dinner for your celebratory after-recital meal, and you'll be fine.Health Question & Answer

as a recovering anorexic myself I would warn you not to even flirt with this idea. It will hurt you in the long run, for life even. You can not lose 15lbs in 3 weeks. The body at best drops 1 to 2 lbs per week, once you begin starving yourself, your body freaks out and holds on tight to the weight because it thinks its not getting what it needs and you'll end up exercising to exhaustion to bet the scale. Please, love yourself.Health Question & Answer

Please, don't be so stupid as to even contemplate it.
You need your energy to dance, you need to be healthy and lively and well.
You can't suddenly decide to "go anorexic" for a start, but an extreme diet (I guess this is what you mean) will only hurt you.
If you really need to lose the 15lbs, for your long term health and happiness, not just for some quick fix/big show, hen do it SAFELY. It may take a while, but if you need to do it, diet properly. Keep eating 3 meals a day plus one small snack. You need a fully balanced diet.
Learn to love who you are, and enjoy your dancing, enjoy life.
Dancing would be the first thing taken away from you if you were to "go anorexic"Health Question & Answer

you don't just 'go' anorexic. its not a choice thing seeing as its a mental disease.

if you mean taking on severe dieting regimes until the dance recital, then thats a different thing really.
But if you dont feed yourself properly with an all round diet you will probably do more harm than good. so i definately wouldnt do it if i was you.
You dont want to turn up to a dance recital feeling weak and tired and hungry.
Health Question & Answer

the best way is through diet and exercise especially if you have to participate in something as rigorous as dancing once you have lost it. And for the record I don't mean to be rude but going "anorexic" as you put it and stopping once you get to the weight is not what anorexia is in reality it is a disease and not something that can be turned on and off.Health Question & Answer

for goodness sake, yes!
i did it and it nearly killed me. i was given a year to live. i had to go to clinics and psychiatrist. it drove me crazy, i cried my eyes out when i gained half a pound, i was on the scales all day making sure i hadnt put any more weight on. my life was a downward spiral until i had to battle it alone. i barely ate anything. and i am not going to tell you what i lived on!

just dont do it, it makes everyones lives hell. friends and family, not just yourself.Health Question & Answer

I wouldn't.
There are better solutions to loosing weight fast.
You could seriously hurt yourself by doing that.
&its not much healthier for you.
Don't spend as much time in the house.
Go rollerskating with your friends, or somthing activley fun more often.
And go on walks if its not to cold outside. And eat better foods.Health Question & Answer

Yes it will hurt you, even for just three weeks. Eat only healthy foods if you really want to lose weight. Since you're a dancer, I'm guessing you're pretty active so combine that with healthy eating and you'll end up looking great. :)Health Question & Answer

Taking on anorexic habits is not good for you and anyone that has to ask already knows this.
Lose it the right way. Sensible diet and lots of exercise.Health Question & Answer
