Seriously, am I overweight or obese?!

Question: Seriously, am I overweight or obese.?
Okay, I have gone to the doctor for routine exams, done BMI calculation...all say that for someone 5'2 at 187 lbs at 27 years old, I am unhealthy and morbidly obese.

Now...here's the issue...I don't even feel remotely overweight. I don't disagree that my weight can and should be less (I've lost quite a lot of weight already), but I can do an hour of cardio and an hour of weight lifting and not even be breathing hard.

My vitals are all perfect, so should I really rely on what the BMI tells me.? I don't intend to stop eating right or working out, but I really question the calculations that tell me that I'm an unhealthy person.Health Question & Answer

Unfortunately, it sounds like you ARE in fact significantly overweight. Your body mass index is 34.2 - overweight is 25 and greater. That said, if you are healthy and satisfied with the way you look, then I don't see a problem with it. Once you become self-conscious or develop some sort of health condition, then you should probably lose weight.

It's great that you're so happy with yourself, even though you aren't Paris Hilton thin. You're a role model.Health Question & Answer

You are young, that will help a lot for now. But before you have children and/or get into your 30's you would benefit from some weight loss. If you are saying that people come in all shapes and sizes and we should appreciate beauty in all sizes, I hear you. One other thing, are you happy with how clothing looks one you when you shop.? Losing weight will make it easier to dress nicely, if you are interested in that.Health Question & Answer
