I'm pretty sure one of my best friends is "developing" anorexia? What to do?!?!

Question: I'm pretty sure one of my best friends is "developing" anorexia.? What to do.?!.?
My friend has had a "history" of anorexia, or so her "old" friends say. She is no longer speaking to them, but they have told me that she was anorexic for quite a few years, she has never been skinny, certainly not life-threateningly so, but it is a disorder, and I believe it is coming back.

She always talks about dieting. For the past two weeks, when we offer her food, she always says that she has eaten before she came here, or that she is not hungry. A classic sign.

When we offer her food, she will say, "No, I already ate." We will all respond, "Yeah, Alyson, really what.?" She will of course reply some ridiculously low calorie food, and we will all get on her case about it. She is constantly talking about how fat she is. I believe it is KIND OF, an attention getting scheme, but I realize that it could easily turn into a serious problem.

She is always commenting on my figure. Saying "I wish I was as skinny as you" or "God, shut up, not everyone can be a stick" (when I tell her to eat) or even "You're so lucky you were born so skinny!". I know that I have a high metabolism, but it is NOT only me that she comments on. She obviously has a poor self esteem issue.

I have tried talking to her, telling her that you need to eat! We have talked to her many times, saying "Alyson, eating is really important!" or "Stop being an idiot, eat something!" We have staged an intervention, and every time, she blows us off.

I believe her anorexia is in the early stages, so I want to cut it off while I still can.? What should I do.? I am seriously concerned with my friend. I'm worried about going to her parents and telling them, because they have so much on their plates right now, but I don't know what to do! Please help me help my friend!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
seriously, tell her parents!!! try talking to her one on one in private. ask her how she feels of herself. give her a picture of someone with a similar size and ask her how she looks. then give her her own picture and ask her to compare. then she will realize how she REALLY looks.

if it still doesn't work, go on the net and search for "anorexia". MAKE her read about it. let her realize how serious the issue is. show her anorexic pictures and ask if they are attractive. (i'm pretty sure no one will agree that they look good!)

ask her what does she really wants.? why does she want to be skinny.? is there benefits of being skinny.? if so, what are they and if she is really that badly treated for not being skinny.?

remember that health comes first no matter what. stop anorexia. models below the bmi of 19 has already been banned by modelling agents.Health Question & Answer

Try to explain that no one finds sickly boney chicks attractive. Then show her pics of what she will look like after her immune system is compromised. Try to get her to exercise for real. Toning, weight training and cardio. Get her looking at and liking clothes that will accentuate a womans body. Health Question & Answer
