Is there ANY (healthy) way to lose weight (fat) without cardio?!

Question: Is there ANY (healthy) way to lose weight (fat) without cardio.?
I've been working out lately, not on a diet cause they don't work (and as it is i eat proportionately) and i've been doing some interval training... 35 minutes 3-4 times a week. I've been doing the intervals with my heart rate between 170-185. I just foind out that at 20, my target should REALLY be 130-150 so i've been kind of over doing it...

ANYWAY, I digress. I really REALLY HATE cardio. I love weight training... is there any healthy way (no pills or powders or gimmicks and crap) to lose body fat WITHOUT doing cardio.? Or at least doing MINIMAL cardio.? I swear, it's the one thing that keeps me out of the gym since i make myself run before i allow myself to do my weight training...

I don't like all that bouncing around either. Makes me dizzy. Always has. Weight training is an excellent way to both build and tone muscle as you loose fat. Just limit your fat intake in foods without going on a diet. Be careful about fat free foods since they contain a great amount of sugar to make up for the loss of flavor that comes with eliminating fat. That sugar turns into carbohydrates that are stored as fat! A brisk walk is just as effective as running.
I have effectively lost weight by eating reasonable portions of all the food groups and just walking and weight training. I participated in the Power Flex class at Bally 3 times a week, walked an hour on the tread mill beforehand and went from a size 14 to a size 10. I'm 5'9" so that looks pretty slim on me and I feel great! No cardio. Health Question & Answer

the gym doesn't really work, kept eating small portions, and think of it this way, all this time you are watching TV, bloggin, etc, go out and take a walk, it takes time.

Very GOOD QUESTION!

Simple Answer: With minimal cardio involved, get a set of dumbells (25lbs) good weight for me and i bench about 235lb. Find some dumbell routines on the internet quickly and put them in a list. The goal is to do about 15 reps of each. MAKE SURE TO DO SQUATS WITH THESE TOO. It gets your heart rate going and it burns bad too........Probably the best way to slim down fast and stay toned! If you hate the gym you could try swimming. Health professionals do advise to do 30mins of pulse raising five times a week, so you could try putting some music on your ipod and going for a brisk walk, that coupled with some weights would work, though if you go heavily into weights you won't lose weight, just fat, as muscle weighs more than fat. Any exercise you do counts; walking to work, or even just getting off the bus one stop early, walking up and down flights of stairs instead of using the lift (or elevator depending where you are). Even doing star jumps while the kettle boils is something. You do need to do some cardio, sorry. Weights alone won't give your heart a work out, you need to something that raises your Pulse rate, even if it is just walking briskly. Don't stress so much on your heart rate though, just do it till you feel breathless, but can still hold a conversation. And diets do work, as long as they aren't faddy, just healthy eatingHealth Question & Answer

Although you hate cardio it's really good for you, for your heart and everything. I hate cardio also and that's 1 of the main reasons I stay out of the gym. I've actually done a 360 on the way I eat. It's not just about portions, it's about making sure when you do get hungry you don't fill yourself with liquid then you just cover up the hunger for 30 minutes then your back to square one. It's about eating a small healthy meal every few hours, and if you are snacking try those 100 calorie snacks, jello, cheese (fat free polly-o .. or light baby bell cheese works for me), fruit, etc... even the weight watcher's snacks they have in the grocery stores. You'd think they taste nasty, but they really don't especially the ice cream bars they have!! Eating like that in my first week I dropped 10 lbs. Every week after that I've continued to drop weight. Some weeks just .5 or something but usually the following week will be like 3lbs or something durastic. Of course that was just my eating habbit. When I added excercise I would see my weight flucuate a little since muscle weights more than fat .. but I'd try fun cardio like jumping rope and then do a lot of sit ups, push ups, and toning excercises. You should change up your routines and see which 1 suits you as we're all different and react to different things. Maybe just put up with the cardio for 1 week, then the next week switch to toning, see what happens.Health Question & Answer
