With breastfeeding, you will lose weight even faster! You need to increase your calorie intake to support that baby. 3000 would be a good goal. Health Question & Answer
First off, congrats on your new baby!
Since you are breastfeeding, i would recommend no less than 2000 calories a day. But be sure to fill up on healthy calories from lean meats, low fat dairy, whole grains, and plenty of fruits and veggies. Since i am sure you are busy being a new mom and all, i would recommed making your meals in advance so you are not tempted to eat junk food or order out too often.
As for exercise, i would just take it easy for now until you get the ok from your doc. But once you can start exercising, start out light and easy. Maybe a brisk stroll through the park (bring your baby along in a stroller and your arms will get a workout too!). If you belong to a gym or have an exercise bike, that would be good exercise too. Some gyms even have special classes for new moms (i know my local Y does), so you can check that out as well.
Good luck with everything!Health Question & Answer
