Does it sound like I have a high metabolism?!

Question: Does it sound like I have a high metabolism.?
Well, lets just say I eat ALOT, and I don't really eat very healthy. =[
Although, all this eating, sometimes I end up binging too, and I don't gain weight.
I don't lose any either.
I'm 5'3" 1/2, and I've weight 118-120 pounds for like, 2 years.
I'm a 15 year old girl by the way.
I'm not really worried about my body.
But I'm wondering if I have a high metabolism because, well, I don't really work out.
Sure, I'm active.
I dance around my house all the time, I play volleyball for a half hour or so for fun sometimes, and I walk around school a lot, but I don't take time out of my life to do "cardio."
also, once I did track for 2 days, eating a slightly healthier diet than normal, and I lost 3 or 4 pounds.
From what I've mentioned, does it sound like I have a higher metabolism.?
Thanks! =]Health Question & Answer

Here is why you are staying fit despite your bad diet.

1. I'm a 15 year old girl by the way.
2. I dance around my house all the time, I play volleyball for a half hour or so for fun sometimes, and I walk around school a lot, but I don't take time out of my life to do "cardio."

When I was your age I did the same thing. I ate bad food and was active so I didn't gain weight. I could go a day without eating before a school dance to fit in that cute outfit and my tummy would be flat as a pancake.

I am now 34 and I have a warning for you.

STOP IT !

Get out of the habit of eating junk now so that when you are my age , you will already be eating healthy because your metabolism will slow down as you get older and if you eat like you are eating now, you will blow up like a balloon.

Consider yourself lovingly warned.

Sure, you have a higher metabolism than average... probably.

However, at your age, it is NORMAL for teenagers to eat an awful lot of food. Teenage food intake requirements are higher than adults! Because your body is going through a ton of hormonal changes and building your final body and all, so it's using up a lot of extra energy. You may find that things change once you reach adulthood and your body isn't so busy anymore. (Of course, you'll probably be less hungry then, too.)

Remember, of course, that weight and health are not the same thing. Fat people can be healthy and skinny people can be unhealthy. It's still a good idea to be active - which it sounds like you are. :)Health Question & Answer
