Question: What is good to eat right before bed.?
Okay, so I am 6 months pregnant and have to really watch my weight so I do not get gestational diabetes again. However, I stay up late so I get really hungry before bed, but I don't want to eat stuff that is full of calories or fat. I just need to know, what can I eat before bed as a small snack that isn't loaded with crap so that I can still watch my weight.? Other than veggies and fruit of course! That is a given! I just need some ideas for healthy snacks that are filling! Thanks!Health Question & Answer

Opinions on when to eat before bed vary from a couple of hours to about fifteen minutes before you head off to sleep. A good balance of complex carbs and protein is important, since it will help you from waking up in the middle of the night feeling hungry.

Slow digesting foods are the answer. Fibrous carbs, casein protein, and even healthy fats are what to aim for. Cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, and any vegetable are good choices. My favorite happens to be peanut butter! One tablespoon is enough.Health Question & Answer
