Just joined a gym and I want to see results!?!

Question: Just joined a gym and I want to see results!.?
I've just recently joined up at a gym I do 3 workouts a week and one Aqua class (more when I can fit it in). This is my third week and I was wondering if anybody knew how long it usually takes before the body starts to change and I'll lose weight. I also have a pretty good diet too and drink heaps of water. I just feel disheartened when I see no results straight away, so I'm hoping this is normal and it just takes time .? :/Health Question & Answer

Well, good job in taking the step to make healthier choices and have a healthy lifestyle. That's awesome. I'm not trying to discourage you but you should have seen something by now, it only takes about three days to see results and three weeks to see significant results. Do you write down everything you eat.? Including condiments.? Like one tablespoon of mayo has 100 calories and most people cut back 500 calories so between 1500-2000 and then workout half or all of the 500 calories daily. How much are you eating.? Even if you were to eat healthy food, like fruit those can add up and mess you up, one medium banana has 105 calories roughly, so if you ate dinner that had 500 calories and then had fruit and breakfast lunch, and calorie liquids, light desert whatever..it adds up. Keep track of everything you do and see what works and what doesn't. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

As a personal trainer, I would expect you to see some changes by now.

It is possible your routine isn't pushing you enough. It may be worth speaking to one of the trainers at your gym for some pointers based on your activity levels outside the gym, build, diet etc.

Plus, it depends on your goals. To lose fat you need lots of long slow distance work. Weight training is also very important to shift fat. Don't think it is just for bodybuilders.Health Question & Answer

It can take quite a while depending on the level of activity when you're at the gym. I found it works best for me when I don't weigh myself for several months at a time. Just found out I lost about 15 lbs since Sept!
Don't forget that with all of the working out, you're gaining muscle mass as you lose weight.
Give yourself 2-3 months before feeling a significant change in size, but you should start feeling healthier and more energetic any time now :)Health Question & Answer

Patients my friend, it takes lots of time and patients. You should of seen a little results but not much. Try to push yourself as hard as you can without injuring yourself. Bodybuilders take years to peak, some ten years or more of hardcore training.Health Question & Answer
