With the conventional teen diet these days consisting mostly of fast food, sodas, and highly refined carbohydrates, it's a good idea to supplement with a multivitamin at the least.

These days, for teens, I feel consumption of foods is primarily based on taste, and, how fast it's prepared.
Unfortunately, this is at the expense of obtaining healthy level of vitamins, minerals, and phyto-nutrients from these foods.

Vitamins are generally safe if consumed according to the "RDA", that is, the "Recommended Daily Allowance".
I believe these standards were set be the "Food and Nutrition Board", and the "National Academy of Sciences."

The FDA can only recall a vitamin, mineral, or herb, if it has been proven dangerous.
The main mission of the FDA, is to ensure the safety and efficacy of Drugs.

Some scientists believe that certain vitamins can be taken safely at higher levels, such as vitamin C, and, the "B" vitamins, which there are many "peered reviewed journals" (scientific studies) indicating the safety and efficacy of such.

Basically, the water soluble vitamins like vitamin C, and the "B's can be taken at somewhat higher levels then the RDA, because they are eliminated quickly from your body via, urine, sweat, and stress.

Fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin E, and A, are stored in your body for longer periods, so more caution should be used when taking higher levels.

In addition, you'll usually find higher levels of "B" vitamins than the RDA suggests, when you read the nutrition panel of a multivitamin - that's pretty common, and it's based on research showing that these higher levels of "B" vitamins can be beneficial to our body.

Aside from supplementing with vitamins, I highly recommend learning about the benefits of eating MANY fruits and vegetables, and, avoiding foods that are unhealthy - Organic is best.

also, I would advise you to go to several health and vitamins stores - I feel they have a better selection of "high quality" vitamin brands that would excel compared to what you might find in the local supermarket, or drug store.

These multivitamins are OK and very rarely give you any side effects. The vitamin B in the multivitamin is likely to color your water yellow but this is very normal.

These supplements are intended to be a supplement to a healthy diet only and can never replace a healthy diet.

It is very hard to get all the nutrients you need from a normal healthy diet so a multivitamin helps.Health Question & Answer

They're good. I take them.

However, did you know that your body only absorbs up to 20% of the vitamins in the pills.?
Liquid vitamins on the other hand, are absorbed up to 95%.

They're both good though, either way, you're getting some vitamins in your system!Health Question & Answer

For the most part, unless you're an athlete, you don't really need vitamins. It's a marketing gimmick.Health Question & Answer

Well I haven't tried it but I saw it too and I really got interesting in that too.Health Question & Answer
