Question: How much protien in one day.? .?
Im looking to put on muscle. ive been taking whey protein and also egg whites in the morning. i get about 100-140 grams a day. is that too much or too little.? i dont want to put on fat either so.... any suggestions.?

Your lifting just the right ammount, 5 times a week and certain muscle groups each day is perfect.

Someone above me said 35g of protein a day. DO NOT listen to her.

you should be getting 1-1.5g of protein per pound of weight.
Protein will not make you fat, so dont worry, if your worried about gaining weight just watch your caloric intake (ammount of calories your taking)
Whey protein is perfect, and egg whites is good, but you can also mix it up with lean meats that are just effective in replacment of egg whites.
-turkey
-chicken
-tofu

You should be getting at least 170g of protein a day. Most of which should come before, during, and after workout. But make sure your getting enough throughout the day.

Try and get as much as possible from your food (lean chicken, steak, eggs, etc) before using protein supplements, they should really only "top up" your protein needs.
This is recommended by most bodybuilding articles.

Although you lift weights 5 times per week, your training split means that each muscle group is being worked less than what it sounds like, but make sure you take adequate rest. It's a marathon, not a sprint!
When you are resting, that is when you grow the most (especially during sleep) and not while drinking protein shakes or actually working out!
