Is this healthy to do....?!

Question: Is this healthy to do.....?
Alright, I've been anorexic for over a year and Im now starting to eat regularly. At first, I was running for 30 minutes (about 2.5 miles) in the morning but the last 2 weeks Ive been running on my treadmill after I eat anything. I did my normal 2.5 miles this morning and I ran another 2 after lunch and another 2.6 after dinner. Im eating pretty normal meals, I had 2 banana's for breakfast, whole wheat pasta for lunch, and brown rice/chicken breast for dinner. Is this just another form of my disorder, or is it okay to do.? Im running about 6-8 miles a day, but not all in one time.

ThanksHealth Question & Answer

You have to ask yourself if you're running to be healthy or you're running to cancel out the eating you've been able to be more consistent about. I think 6-8 miles if you're not training for something may be excessive, but it really comes down to, do you feel guilty if you don't run after you eat.? Would you slip back into not eating if you were unable to exercise for a week.? If so, then yeah, what you're doing isn't healthy. You know, I can see in your picture you are a very beautiful young lady, and I promise you, for a guy like me, it's the inner qualities of a woman that I find so attractive. Don't listen to the junk culture says about how physical beauty is most important. Place the value on your heart. You want a guy who finds your heart desirable over your appearance, cuz at 80, who looks good anyway.? :-) A pure heart is pure gold.Health Question & Answer

It does sound like you're slipping back into your eating disorder. Normally it would be healthy to run that much, but you're doing it to burn off the food, which is part of your disorder. Like using laxatives after each meal, or throwing up. It is better than purging and better than not eating at all, but it's still not good.

Try doing all your running at once, away from meal times, to break the habit. If you weren't associating it with food, then it would be ok.Health Question & Answer

You're burning about 200 calories by running 2.5 miles per 30 minutes. I cant calculate exactly, but use this:
http://www.internetfitness.com/calculato...

An average banana has about 110 calories. Chicken and pasta would be maybe 200 ea. You can find the amount of calories you should consume each day by multiplying you weight by 10, but you would want to consume more than that to gain weight. This equation doesn't take into account your amount of exercise.
You should consume about 70 grams of protein a day. on average, chicken breast is 25 grams of protein. A banana 2 grams.

I think you're running it tight.Health Question & Answer

Well I have no idea what the last person said, but I think it's alright. I think you just need to start eating a bit more. It's pretty healthy, I'd say. As healthy as most of us should eat, but it might be too little. Maybe add another meal and start doing other exercises.Health Question & Answer

Well my calculating observation of the whole experiment quite drastically differs from the opposing exponential. If you are able to resourcefully subdue the interactive force within the higher standard, things will hyperventilate substantially.Health Question & Answer

I would say you should consult your doctor before starting any new diet after being anorexic for such a long time.Health Question & Answer

actually that is much better than what u were probably doing b4 ,one little suggestion though ...
wait a half an hour after u eat to give ur stomach time 2 digest
also maybe switch of every other day with running one day and walking another half the distanceHealth Question & Answer

First, with the greatest amount of compassion I can muster; I hope you're currently seeing, or at least willing to start seeing now, a doctor. Put these guys to work!

Even if you had never been anorexic, periodically seeing a doctor is a good idea. Kind of like a dentist for your whole body. You're watching your eating and your exercise, you're paying close attention to what you are doing. That's GREAT! Totally awesome. All you need now is a little guidance on what balance will work best for you. If I can make a small recommendation - take it easy until you have had a chance to talk to an expert.

People here can offer you insight, they can offer you compassion, they can tell you about their own experiences. But a doctor can be there for you day after day.

And a doctor (or a person he recommends for you) has the knowledge to help you put together a sensible diet/exercise program. Exercise is good! Of course, your needs will change over time as you continue to recover, and he/she can help you map out your progress. Even cooler, they have all sorts of funky devices that can help measure your progress.

You might also want to consider replacing some of your solo-exercise with inter-active exercise. I like running, but it's not the only form of exercise I get. Consider yoga, for instance. When done right, this is so much more than learning how to put your feet behind your head or sweat buckets in a speedo. A good yoga teacher will be there to help you explore your own spirituality as well as deepening the connection with your own body. And you won't be doing this alone. You'll have someone to help watch over you and support you. (If they don't, find another yoga teacher. They can be incredibly compassionate people.)

Congratulations on recognizing this and taking steps to deal with it. Look at all the caring that you've gotten from complete strangers here... imagine how much more is hidden in the people in your life, just waiting for the opportunity to come out!Health Question & Answer

well its ok to run a lot throughout the day, i have friends who need to due to track and sports...but u need to be getting more carbs in and forms of protien.....2 bananas is liek eating nothing for breakfast...maybe add some orange juice in there, toast.?...and for lunch have a few more things, like fruit and a yogurt....and for dinner eat more carbs and veges....if your running a lot, its going to be burning everyhitng u eat, and from waht u said you still arent eating that much....but like what i suggested is still being very healthy

serisously though....try little steps at first, and if thats too hard cut back a little on the running, this way the nutrients u eat will actaully benifit from

also be sure your drinking a lot of water....runinigh taht much requires at least 8 glasses or more a dayHealth Question & Answer
