When you reach a plateu, will it eventually pass if you keep exercising?!

Question: When you reach a plateu, will it eventually pass if you keep exercising.?
I've been doing roughly 60 mins of cardio 5 times a week for the past 2 months. Last week, i stayed the same. I did go down and inch on my hip measurement but it still upsets me i didnt lose pounds.

i've thought about increasing to 90 mins, but then i got worried i'd end up quitting from being exhausted. If i keep doing what im doing will i eventually go past the plateu, or will i stay like this forever until i change my exercise.? How long do plateus last.?Health Question & Answer

You do need to change your exercise. What cardio do you do at the moment.? You need to try something new alongside what you already do (try reducing your current regime to fit something else in) and combine different exercise as much as possible. Do you weight train.? That'll definitely help to burn more calories. also, interval training during your current cardio will challenge your body and improve fitness. also, try something like yoga or pilates because they challenge your muscles in a new way and because they're low intensity you won't even realise how many calories you're burning!
My overall advice to you is mix it up as much as possible, try not to overtrain (because you won't see any gains) but most of all, enjoy what you do and keep it up!Health Question & Answer

It depends on your overall weight loss plan. You have to keep in mind that diet plays a HUGE role in weight loss. You may need to take something out of your diet in order to see a change (sometimes as simple as soda, cheese, or butter). If you are already on a healthy diet plan you just need to keep on keeping on.

90 minutes is pretty excessive for just cardio, but you could try adding weight training, yoga or Pilate's into your regimen. The key is to keep your body guessing. The human body adapts in a wonderful way, but in this case you don't want it to adapt. Your body is used to your regular 60 minutes of cardio, so throw it a curve-ball. Switching things up a bit is the only way to get past the plateau.Health Question & Answer

I am a fitness instructorHealth Question & Answer

find what works best for you trying running slower paced for longer amount of time,

or try running faster & see how long you last

depends on prefrenceHealth Question & Answer

I have hit plateaus with weight training, like everyone does, and what I found works for me is to changing up my routines, trying new exercises, pressing myself a lot harder on 1 or 2 days a week, so I didn't get burnt out.

I have done some aerobic exercises too. When I ran, in order to get faster or more endurance I would run fast for as long as I could and then slow down then speed up again when I got my energy back up, and kept cycling it. also, the best thing I ever did was play ball. I played basketball, volleyball, racquetball and other sports.I found that doing this keeps my interest for longer periods of time, and I could keep my metabolism up all day.
