Losing weight gained from starvation mode...?!

Question: Losing weight gained from starvation mode....?
So, I have been eating only 600-1000 calories a day for about three or more months. I increased it the last couple of days to 1200 or more. i have been working out a lot. Doing DDR and burning about 400 calories on it averaged.

So, I have gained af ew pounds because of this. I don't want to gain, and I am afraid of eating so many calories, but I know I have to do it if I want to lose weight.

After my metabolism is back on track and stuff, will the pounds go away.? Will I be able to lose them again.?

also, I have been trouble managing my weight with the low calories. IT always went from 138 to 144 and back again. But since I increased my caloric intake I went from 141.2 to 143.6.

Please, I need to know what's going to happen! And I also plan on adding some strenth training.Health Question & Answer

There is a reason they deem calorie intake below 1,200 calories as starvation mode. You initially will lose weight and then your body lowers its own metabolism gradually so that it can function on much less than what your body actually needs. Unfortunately, returning to normal calorie levels is going to make your body gain a few pounds right until your body feels safe to kick back to normal metabolism.

If you are exercising a lot then you need to stop limiting your body, I know it is a really scary thought to eat more calories right now because you are afraid you will gain but unless you want to live the rest of your life eating almost nothing and working out intensely (which by the way will just cause you to never be able to maintain muscle which burns fat. And, may eventually cause your body to attack one of the most powerful muscles in your body - your heart).

If you are serious about rebuilding your metabolism and still losing weight, increase your calorie intake to at least 1400. Exercise daily, aiming to burn at least 500 calories a day. Initially you will gain weight (sorry) but it shouldn't be more than 5 pounds total in the first two weeks. Then, your body will be able to build muscle from all your working out, which will increase your metabolism. Do cardio and weight training, that's what burns calories AND builds lean muscles. Muscle burns about 8x more calories than fat, so your body will burn more even while you sleep. Right now you are making your body "unbuild" itself, destroying it's own muscle mass so that it can use less calories to stay alive.

Try a weight and cardio routine for a month, then begin changing your routine every two weeks, this causes your body to never get used to the routine and continue to use different muscles which will keep your weight loss constant. For example, for the first month if you are weight lifting for 30 minutes and running for 40 minutes, add in 10 minutes of jump roping the next two weeks, The next two weeks you can try running for an hour, strength training for 20, and then air boxing (arms and legs) for 20 minutes.

When you get to a weight you want to maintain, bring your calorie level to about 1500 and continue working out at least 3 hours a week.

Hope this helps, if you don't make this change now you will just get frustrated in the future, and possibly quit everything and really gain weight as your body adjusts. I know, I've been there, it's scary to take the step worried to gain weight, but in the long run you will be able to control your weight and be healthy without damaging your body.Health Question & Answer
