Answers:
You do not provide enough information to answer your questions fully. A "booster" vaccination can be for any of the illnesses that we typically vaccinate for. A "booster" is given when it is found that your immune system was not stimulated adequately in prior vaccination to make antibodies to protect you from the illness. Protection also fads with time. (1) The pain will be similar to previous vaccinations and is different based on what you are getting. (2) Typically the needle is a high gauge (small needle). (3) There are lidocaine gels that can be used to numb the pain, but it is not worth it for a quick shot (it will be over before you know it). (4) The booster is important to help prevent you from getting sick. (5) You may have some local swelling and redness around the injection site which will fade with time. You also may develop a slight fever depending on the "booster" which you can take medication for - ask your doctor. (6) Like I said above this depends on the "booster" you are getting. "Booster" is a general term and can refer to any vaccination that you need to have given again. Don't worry about getting the shot. You need to get it to stay healthy and it will be over in no time. I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
