30 years ago it was probably done openly...not orthoscopically... and back then, they usually removed most or all of the meniscus... probably has severe osteochondritis dissecans..the ends (condyles) of the femur are not smooth---degraded.. need to see an orthopedic surgeon. depending on age and joint condition, probably looking at replacement if it can't be managed with synvisc or other injections. my guess is that if it was done 30 years ago, this person is at least in his 50's ...could also be a loose body in the joint.. that can be taken care of with the scope. are you located in TX..?.?Health Question & Answer

the knee is one of thos places that once you hurt it will stick with you the restof your life :(
my older brother also had surgery done on his knees and sometimes randomly he would get pain from the area
i myself twisted my knee and can sympathize how much it hurts :(
i would suggest acupuncture. before my first time getting an acupuncture i was very suspicious and against it. but after i got it, the pain in my knee drastically changed and i was able to walk a little whereas before i could barely stand on my own.
the process of acupuncture does kind of hurt but nothing worse than a shot.
it helps loosen up your muscles and your knee will feel a lot better
afterwards try taking a warm bath and massaging it a bit
feel better :)Health Question & Answer
