Tramodol and hydrocodone?!

Question: Tramodol and hydrocodone.?
I have been taking Tramadol for 4 months now for neck and shoulder pain. It works well for me. I also love how relaxed it makes me feel. Today I ran out and my refill appointment isn't until tomorrow. I have been taking Hydrocodone instead. How come the hydrocodone is not doing anything.? It isn't helping with my pain and it isn't even making me have the good feeling it normally does. I can't wait to get my Tramadol. This is strange because most people prefer Hydrocodone and I actually used to prefer it too. Now it is doing nothing. I feel like crap and might as well have took nothing. Could I be having withdrawals from the Tramadol because I have been on it to long and that is why Hydrocodone is just not cutting it.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have been on Tramadol for 4 or so years now due to my bad back. The worst withdrawal symptom I get is insomnia which lasts about 4-5 days. About the longest I can go without Tramadol is 24 hours before the insomnia sets in.

I take the SR(slow release) pills but I have tried the regular 50mg ones and they didnt give me withdrawals but they also werent covering my pain as well as the SR ones do. Ask about the SR ones if you have been on the regular ones.

If I ever find myself about to run out before I can get a repeat I halve my dose so instead of a tablet morning and night, I just take 1 in the morning,.gets me through the extra day or two until I can see my Doc.

I have never used hydrocodone so cant comment on that.Health Question & Answer

Doctors typically prescribe tramadol in place of narcotic pain killers due to it non addictive properties. Little do they know... I have also been on percocet, oxycodone, tylenol with codeine and more and I have never dealt with a withdrawal as bad as when I came off the tramadol although only after my doctor doubled the dosage. I would definately let your doctor know about any withdrawal symptoms. Alot of people I have talked to have had major withdrawal from the tramadol.Health Question & Answer

Because over time you gain a tolerance and you will need more and more to produce the same affect. Try taking an extra one...If I were to take vicodin i would need about 3 or 4 to take away my pain.Health Question & Answer
