Question: 9 year old hurt thumb....?
My little cousin bent her thumb all the way back to her wrist. She said when it happened she heard a loud pop. It is swollen and painful. I need to know if she should be seen at the ER. We called to get permission from her mother to take her, but she won't give it because she can't take her right now and wants to make sure that if she get pain meds in pill form so that she can take them herself. My cousin can't even swallow pills and she knows that we will tell the doctor that. Anyway, I just need some advice on what to do for her since I can't take her to be seen. Oh and yes I have tried Child Protective Services and they are a bunch of tools and think it is okay for the parents to do drugs, beat their children, and make them sleep upstairs without heat.Health Question & Answer

why not take her to the er anyways. if they need parental permission to give meds tell them the mom is unavailable and ask what the other options are. if they say nothing they could at least wrap it or tell you how to care for it.Health Question & Answer
Take her to the ER and then have the ER call Social Services so that someone can tend to this child! People like this should not have the right to be a parent...Health Question & Answer
