Help, i don't know what to do about my leg. ?!

Question: Help, i don't know what to do about my leg. .?
So, my left ankle was fractured (a salter 2 fracture) on the right side right up to the growth plate. this happened on december 5th, 2008. now, it's been about 7 weeks. at the end of the 6th week, my doctor put me in a partial weight bearing aircast, and told me to use the crutches while i need them. a week has past since then, and i'm still using the crutches. i don't know if i'm doing it right, though, because my parents say i'm not stepping down enough. should i get rid of the crutches.? how should i walk.? please, help!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
we're in almost the same situation. you had a cast for the first 6 weeks, right.?

i was in a cast for almost 3 months with a broken right ankle that didn't heal properly at first. now I am still using crutches for support and balance 5 months after the injury and a month after i got my cast off. i had a walking cast (or actually I was told I could also try to put weight on my cast using a cast shoe) for the last 3 weeks but I found it hard until the middle of the second week and i still used crutches just with my foot on the ground.

try just walking on the front of your foot for an hour or so a day but really your recovery will come when you're out of the boot and begin physical therapy. if u want u can use the crutches for support and balance when u try walking but the idea is to put weight on the foot to get ready to walk again.

soon we'll both be better and all we'll have are our crutches, signed casts and (your) boot as a kind of cute reminder.

Start putting some weight on it slowly put you foot to the floor lean on chair to support your right arm do it for as long as you can take it this will strenthen your muscles do it as often as you can don't bend your knee keep leg straight when you do this the muscles & joints will apathy if not stretched OK Good luck feel better soonHealth Question & Answer

go to physical therapy, or try it for an hour a day with put crutches, then the next week 2 hours a day. the body is healing, sometimes it can take a while.Health Question & Answer
