Yes, I broke mine at the end of September playing soccer. i was kind of in shock from the pain and i'm not sure what exactly happened. i was trying to kick the ball and i fell - next thing i know i'm in pain that i remember from when i broke my arm and i can't get up so i was carried off the field.
rested it for a day because it happened on the weekend and i wanted to go to the same doctor who treated my arm so i just left the emergency splint on until Monday morning when i had it x-rayed and was told i could have surgery if i wanted but if not it would just mean a longer time in a cast. i took the cast so i got a temporary cast and then on Wednesday I went back for my first (hot pink) cast that I wore for 6 weeks and then I had it changed to a lime green one for the next 6 weeks until the day before Xmas when I got it off. I'm still on crutches for another couple of weeks but just using them for support because my leg is stiff and weak. i saw the doctor for the last time today and he said it is definitely 100% healed and later I have my last physical therapy session.
Casts are cute (and getting them signed is cool) but uncomfortable and hard to deal with. Crutches are loads of fun and a great workout if you can get used to them like I did. But i feel so bad for friends who have plates and screws and scars from surgery and not everyone can deal with a cast and crutches like I did so be careful out there.
