Question: How do you know if you have an ulcer or bad heart burn.?

Friday night I went out to eat and had spicy food, the next morning I felt very bad heart burn which I never have so my friend gave me two pepto bismol tablets, it felt a tiny bit better but I still felt bad, now it's Monday night, today I took tums, helped for a bit, but it still hurts quite badly, what do I do to fix this.?
