Trace amounts of blood?!

Question: Trace amounts of blood.?
My little sister has only one kidney and she went to the doctor today with strep and a flu on top of that. They took some tests and declared she was healthy, but they took a urine sample and found some blood in her urine. She hasn't had her period yet. We have to wait until they call tomorrow afternoon, because they are going to do a urine culture. Could this mean her kidney will fail.? Or does she just have a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection.?) If so, could it destroy her kidneys.? She's really worried.

I meant that other than the strep and flu, she's healthy. And strep can harm your kidneys, by the way.

She also said she had lower back pain.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The microscopic blood in her urine doesn't mean anything at this time except for that. I don't know why she has only one kidney but it's possible what was wrong with the missing one is going to happen to the one that's left. It's also possible she's got a UTI. Doing the culture will let you know if there's an infection - and she'd be treated for that. If not, they may want to do further tests. The back pain could be indicative of a kidney problem but might not too. Just wait and see what the doctors say, then go from there.

I've learned to not worry in advance - it's such a waste of energy... and I've had breast cancer, skin cancer, ovarian cyst, and something going on in the remaining breast.Health Question & Answer

Well, I had UTI when I was about 6 years old. I never had blood in my urine. The only things I suffered from were high fevers and pain when I went to the bathroom. I also had both my kidneys though.

Hope she'll be ok!Health Question & Answer
