When I lay on my back I have chest pains.?!

Question: When I lay on my back I have chest pains..?
When I lay on my back I get pain on the right side of my chest. It's kind of like a shooting pain but not. It doesn't hurt when I push on it. It hurts when I breathe too deeply or cough or sneeze. It goes away almost as soon as I sit up or move positions. This just recently started. I was at the ER a few weeks ago and they had done an x-ray (i was having a horrible asthma attack) and I didn't have a blood clot then. This was just at the beginning of March. I have no other symptoms. I'm not light headed and it doesn't hurt worse when I'm moving around. It actually feels better when I move around. I'm 19 and pretty healthy. A little overweight but it's never stopped me from anything. I don't feel like that's it. I don't drink or smoke or do any drugs. Any ideas.? It's only when I lay on my back. It's very uncomfortable. I also don't think it's my heart because again, it's the right side and I have no other symptoms.Health Question & Answer

You could have what they call GERD. This is basically bad heartburn. It doesn't always feel like your normal heartburn.
I have this and take medication for it. Lying on your back makes you more prone to have this problem. Try lying with your head and upper back elevated. If this helps then it probably is GERD. They have over the counter meds for this. You can try Zantac or the generic of it,
If elevating your upper body helps then I would get the Zantac and take it daily for a few days and see if that solves the problem.
also, being overweight, as I am, too, makes this an easier problem to have.Health Question & Answer

you honestly should probably look into losing some weight...also, you probably need a CT of the chest or VQ scan, and another chest XRAY to rule out anything like a blood clot, etcHealth Question & Answer
