Question: How to boost immune system and happiness :(.?
I am a 21 year old female. I sit on my own at home most days after losing my job due to been made redundent 2 months ago, and I don't eat much, my main food consists of some biscuits, a sandwich and a glass of juice, I tend to sit in all day and have no exercise, I just watch tv or play on a game. In the evening, about 8pm, we normally eat a take-away and go to bed about 11.30pm. I suffer quite alot from anxiety and have really lost my confidence this past year :( :(

To be honest, looking back on what I have just written, it's no wonder that I have a low immune system and feeling ill all the time! Since January this year I have had a really bad virus for a month, then I had a sinus infection. I have just finished today a week of antibiotics for this, and it stil hasnt cleared up, so im back at the doctors tommorow.

I suffer too with IBS and i often get alot of aches and pains etc.... all signs of not doing much, and I get anxiety/mild depression.

Can anyone tell me of a good diet/exercise regime to get me back on track and feeling better again.? I also struggle to know what to eat because I am very sensitive with my IBS. Fatty/greasy food, very large meals, junk food, chocolate, cakes, fizzy drinks all make me feel nauseous afterwards, and sometimes diorrhea....

Any help would be great :) :)

What you need aside from a good diet and exercise regime is to get yourself active mentally as well as physically.

Rather than sitting down and not doing anything aside from watching TV or playing games, learn new skills and get involved with activities run by the community centre where you live, some of these lessons and activities are free and you could also volunteer your service.

You can also advertise in local supermarket/shops/cafes using flyers and taggies that you can print yourself offering services for money - eg. walking the dog, baby sitting, shopping for the elderly, paper round.... etc.... or if you have any particular talent that you are good at, let people know. Send out your resume and apply for different type of jobs, there are still jobs out there except that you need to be flexible and do job that you may not particular want or like for the moment.

Instead of watching TV and playing games, go to the library and get a book on how to improve your skills, etc... or confidence...

Not doing anything will deplete your self confidence so take action and get active.

When your confidence increases, you will automatically start to eat better too, you already know what is not good for yourself so instead of having take away, learn to cook instead.

Set yourself a goal to achieve a new skill for yourself and work towards getting there.

Take zinc tablets, eat lots more fruits such as banana and drink lots of water at regular intervals.also take up early morning walk every day for 20 mins.
Eat pumpkin seeds and dry fruits instead of sweeties and chocolates.

Just start with steady walks outside on a daily basis then move on to more rigorous exercise. Exercise makes you feel much happier in yourself as it releases anxiety and stress. Well you should change your diet as that affects your immune system as if you eat well, you feel well. Just make sure you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as these are full of vitamins and help prevent infection. As for staying inside all day, this will make you more depressed and depression can also harm the immune system as it gets you down. Therefore eat more healthily and of course you can have the occasional treat and get out do some more things as well as exercise. Try googling the FailSafe diet. They do an elimination thing. You basically live on nothing until the pains and nausea start to go away. Then, you add foods back in and see if you react. They add by chemical group.

I'd saaaaaay....Maybe you need a GOOD mulivitamin, B12, and maybe flaxseed oil.?

B12 gives energy, but sometimes actually reduces guilt. Flaxseed oil has good things and also equalizes hormones.Health Question & Answer
