Question: Bone Scans the injection (scared).?
im going to get a bone scan tomorrow but im not really scared about the scan just the injection, i have heard that when they inject it, it is like an i.v but im not good with needles at all so im afraid that i will have an nervous break down. then i have heard that right when they inject it you can taste it in your mouth. I just don't know what to about the injection, what can i do to help it. also with the feeling doess it hurt.?Health Question & Answer

Best advice I can give is to look away. I've never had an iv, so I can't liken it to that. But what they did for me was inject the matter into the fold of my arm (upside of the elbow.) I looked, but again, I wouldn't recommend it. She pulled blood from my arm first (just a bit-pea size maybe.) Then she injected this yellow nuclear whatnot into my arm. It stings a bit, but very tolerable. But I'm not afraid of needles. You have to wait about 4 hours after the injection and drink a lot of water. Make sure you urinate right before the scan. That stuff collects in your kidneys and thats all the scan will read.
But, yeah, just close your eyes and tough it.

don't get tense when they inject the needle or else it WILL hurt. also ask to squeeze someones hand and also look away. hope this helps! good luck!!Health Question & Answer
