Is it an requirement to tell my management?!

Question: Is it an requirement to tell my management.?
That I have injured my ankle and that I will be going to hospital later on in the month to have it looked at and sorted out. I did not injure it at work and it will not really affect my work. I'm not sure if I should tell them as my job involves being on my feet all day and they might ASSUME that I will not be able to do it. So do I have to tell them or not.? And if I do how can I explain it so it doesn't sound too bad.? Thanks!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes you sould give them as much notice as possible for any time off you will need to take because of your ankle.
Companies wont normally ask if it is a work related issue until you have to fill in a sick form. But they will believe whatever you tell them as they have no reason not to.
So long as your doctor hasnt signed you off of work, because you use your ankle/on your feet all day, then this should be enough for your employers. :)

it isn't a requirement to inform your management that you have a hospital appointment, but if something is diagnosed that will be a requirement to inform them. i know that with the current economic climate people are worried about losing their jobs but they cannot be funny with you or finish your employment over a health issue, that is against the law. personally i would tell them about the appointment.Health Question & Answer

I think ethically you should tell them as this could be a safety issue depending on how bad your ankle is.They have a duty to ensure you and your workmates are safe at workplace but you also have the same duty.
If you do tell them (im not saying you should) you should think about what you tell them i.e how, where it happened etc.you get my drift.? ;-)Health Question & Answer

It is better to inform it to your line manager that it happened outside your work and it does not affect your work at present. As your work being on your feet all day there may be complications and line manager may be able to organise light duty.Health Question & Answer

You need to let them know just in case you need time of for surgery or doctors appointments.
