What can I expect from foot surgery?!

Question: What can I expect from foot surgery.?
I've developed a large painful bunion and bunionette on my left foot and I'm thinking it may need surgery. How long can I expect to be out of commission.? How long before I can walk on it.? How bad does it hurt.? I can barely fit my foot into a shoe right now, but my toes are fairly straight.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have been to a specialist regarding a bunion I have on my left foot ( I inherited it from my dad...thanks dad). I have tried strapping which did not help and surgery is my next option. I have been told that you are not able to bear weight on the foot for 6-8 weeks (crutches only) you cannot carry your kids or anything heavy for an extended period of time after that (big bummer for me) and that it takes a year or longer for the foot to heal completely. It is not a one and done type of thing. I have been thinking about looking into other treatments through an orthopedic surgeon since I now have arthritis and limited range of motion in my big toe.Health Question & Answer
