Question: How can i excercise if i can't walk due to osteoarthritis in my left hip.?
Answers:
Hi there,

I had a similar problem..
The Osteoarthritis in my right hip was so bad that i needed a hip replacement to fix it..
While i was waiting for the op i was told to keep exercising, even though the pain was so bad that i couldn't walk.. I was on so much morphine...... yet still told to keep exercising..
I went to my local swimming pool..
Once in the water i just swung my leg back and forth slowly and only as much as i could tolerate.. I was able to do more and more each time..
Just move your leg around in the water as much or little as possible without being in agony and you will see a great improvement..Health Question & Answer

May I recommend aquaerobics.. It's very easy on your joints and muscles.. The resistance of the water gives you a good work out without the pressure on all your weak points.. Look into it but talk to your doctor before you start any physical activity..Health Question & Answer

You can do seated exercises that will increase your heart rate, like some weight training on your upper body.. And you will want to keep the joint moving, even through the pain, or it will become too stiff to move..Health Question & Answer

Aquatics classes.. It's aerobics in the water.. Supposed to be little to no impact on your joints, and a great work out.. 24 hour fitness has it, as well as others in your area I'm sure..Health Question & Answer
