Question: Whats the best/fastest way to heal a cut from a knife.?
i accidentally got cut by a stainless steel two inch knife and it cut into my left thumb about ..7 inches across and about ..2 or ..3 inches deep.. I'm just wondering if there is a fast/good way to heal it!Health Question & Answer

Keep it clean and covered..
Use an antiseptic ointment on it, such as Vitacilina or arnica cream -- both help you heal faster as well..
Excercise every day -- this boosts your immune system and all that other healing stuff your body does..

You should go to the doctor (ER) and have it looked at because you may need stitches.. That is a very common place that you use every day and it's going to come open a lot if it's almost 3/4 of an inch large and that deep.. Straight clean cuts like that are easy to sew up and they numb it up ahead of time.. You also need to be sure you're up to date on your tetanus shot.. If you've not had one in the past ten years (closer to the last eight preferred), than you should get one..
You need to be seen within the first 24 hours (sooner is MUCH better) to get it stitched up.. Otherwise, they'll probably apply steri-strips (sort of like special super sticky medical tape that stays in place for days) and maybe even a little splint to keep you from popping it open while it heals.. You really need to "baby" it so it doesn't continue to pop open.. We really use our thumbs more than you think and I bet you're gonna realize that rather quickly if you've not already..

Keep it clean and dry.. you can use some antibiotic ointment on it ot prevent infection.. Put a bandaid on if you are outside or are in a situation where you may get dirt or anything else in it, /when in the house leave the bandaid off so that it can get air and will heal..
