A good topic! When I had one of those electronic pressure things, it sqeezed my arm so tightly I thought I was going to rip it off and run out of the room! plus it didn't work right twice..

The old fashioned way where the dr.. pumps up the little pressure cuff works better and doesn't hurt nearly as much.. Really, you'd think those electronic ones are causing damage!Health Question & Answer

Although you may be experiencing what is called "white coat hypertension", sometimes automatic blood pressure cuffs don't work well if they're at the low-cost end of the spectrum.. Since you don't mention the brand or cost of your cuff, I can't speculate more about that..

Blood pressure can vary greatly due to time of day, exercise, nervousness, recent eating/drinking; even holding your breath can affect your BP.. You may also not be applying the cuff properly, or it may be too small/large..

The next time you see your physician, bring along your automatic BP cuff.. This will give you a chance to compare the two methods..Health Question & Answer

could be a nervous factor involved......with an automactic cuff it is important to remember......be very still, irregular heatbeats can cause errorous readings........if you can find someone to take it manually for you outside the Dr office then compare, that may be a bit closer........if you are trying to keep a log, make adjustments to the automatic cuff readings or average the 2 readings and make adjustments..Health Question & Answer

If you take your BP at the same time each day, you can tell over time whether it is going up or down as a trend.. Although some are better than others, none are totally accurate.. Even at the doctor's office, you could have two nurses take your BP and each reading will likely be different.. And yes, it does go up at the doctor's office..Health Question & Answer

they can be pretty inacurate before you go to doc or get to worried take ti with a pump up cuff.. if you cant ask somebody who canHealth Question & Answer
